Understanding Height Measurements
In the United States, height is normally written in feet and inches. Medical records, international forms, sports profiles and many fitness apps often use centimeters or meters instead. This tool handles both systems, so you do not have to repeat the calculation by hand.
Feet and inches to centimeters
First change the full height into inches. After that, multiply by 2.54.
Centimeters = total inches × 2.54
Example: 5 ft 9 in is 69 inches. Multiplying 69 by 2.54 gives 175.26 cm.
Centimeters to feet and inches
Divide centimeters by 2.54 to get total inches. Divide that answer by 12 for the number of full feet; the remainder is the inches value.
Feet = whole number of total inches ÷ 12
Example: 180 cm is about 70.87 inches, or approximately 5 ft 10.87 in.
Height difference
The comparison tool changes both heights into total inches, subtracts the smaller value from the larger value, and then shows the same difference in centimeters.
Predicted adult height
The adult-height tab uses the mid-parental height method. It is a broad estimate, not a promise about final growth.
Girl estimate: (father’s height + mother’s height − 5 inches) ÷ 2
Healthy weight range by height
The weight tab uses the general BMI reference range of 18.5 to 24.9. BMI is a screening calculation and does not directly measure body fat, muscle mass or individual health.
